IMPHAL, JULY 16 (NNN): A ‘public convention’christened as "One-day public convention on the disputed Indo-Myanmar border pillars along Manipur boundary" was organized by the United Committee, Manipur (UCM) "in association with the people of Manipur" at GM Hall in Imphal. After dileberations, comments and suggestions, the convention re-affirmed to re-survey the disputed Manipur border boundary/pillars installed along the Indo-Myanmar border.It said, before starting re-survey works the "stake holders and re-survey committee members" should understand the exact extracted meaning of “traditional boundary” with reference to the 1967 International Boundary Agreement between Government of India and Myanmar Government. Further, it resolved that re-survey should be conducted with the UCM, villagers in border areas, the Government of Manipur and survey teams from the Indian government and Myanmar government. The UCM will handle the border issue to protect the territorial boundary of the state, it also resolved. N Joykumar, retired professor Manipur University attended as moderator and UCM president Sunil Karam presided over the occasion. Fifteen noted personalities namely Hareshwor Goswami, Morung Makunga, D Solomon, N Phullindro, Ningthoujam Manihar, A Amu Singh, Pradeep Phanjoubam, O Joy,Rose Mangsi, Abdullah Pathan, RT Akhel, Sarangthem Manaobi, Rk Ranendrajit, Sapamcha Jadumani, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar spoke during the convention.
