Pughoboto, January 28 (MExN): A team of four cleanliness awardees under Pughoboto sub division toured Shillong and visited the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong on January 23. The team interacted with the SDO Civil, BDO Bala, BDO Mawsynram EL Warjri and Headman.
In a press release, APRO Pughoboto stated that Bala, while welcoming the team said that the village activities are solely run by the village to promote tourism in the state. She said that Mawlynnong is an industrious village and resources are used to sustain their livelihood.
EL Werjri highlighted the governmental activities in their state. Headman Banjopthiaw Karoymba said that cleanliness is a habit since their ancestral days. He said that the villagers are very united and cooperative. Non bio-degradable and bio degradable wastes are segregated in separate places for recycling, the headman added.
The yearly clean awardees - Ghatashi, Kilomi, Pughoboto and Kigali representatives discussed on revenue inflows and fund utilizations and also maintaining job cards under MGNREGA. Team leader, SDO Civil Pughoboto Tiayanger Jamir highlighted on Thuwu-ni festival and acknowledged the Village authority for the interactive session. MLA Y Vikheko Swu sponsored the tour under LADF 2017-2018.
