Pungro Area Pastors Fellowship appeals for tribal peace

Dimapur, March 4 (MExN): Pungro Area Pastors Fellowship appealed for peace in the Yimchunger territory in the wake of the tribal tension between the Yimchunger and the Tikhir communities. A press release issued by K Yimto Yimchunger on behalf of the Pungro Area Pastors Fellowship, while appealing for peace in the Yimchunger territory, stated that many people have lost their lives and many properties have been damaged. All these are not done by others but by our own people even to our own villagers, stated the release.

The release, quoted Genesis 3:10 from the Bible: What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. In this logic the release stated that the present Naga societies have gone wrong in many ways, even though they are all Christians, the release stated.

The release stated that when we retrospect our action, we see everywhere bribery, looting, hatred, wrong instigations, kidnapping and killing. The root causes of all these evil fruits are because of factionalism, groupism, tribalism, clanism, and so on, claimed the release. The release wondered how long Naga society will remain in this dark shadow, and added that sometimes we may see our own neighbours as if they are our enemies but being a Christian our enemy on this earth is only Satan and not the human being, the release stated.

The release stated further stated that whenever caught in a difficult situation or when a misunderstanding among the people occurs, one should involve only as a peace maker and try not to create more problems. We all know that Yimchunger has five fingers namely-Langa, Tikhir, Chirr, Makory and Longphür, stated the release, and added that all these five fingers in the hand makes the body whole. The release further appealed to the Yimchunger and Tikhir tribal leaders to realize their mistakes and resolve their differences through negotiation in good sense in a pragmatic manner so as to avoid any further bloodshed in the land.

The release further stated that in such a hopeless situation only God can solve the problems and thus called for divine intervention. “In such hopeless juncture, when there is no peace of mind within us, Jesus Christ whom we believe is the only answer. Let us invite the Holy Spirit’s intervention, cast all our unsolved problems before God and let God solve for us” the release stated.
