Pungro SDPDB reviews road works, approves new projects

Pungro, May 12 (MExN): The monthly Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) meeting of Pungro was held on May 12, at Additional Deputy Commissioner's Office, Pungro under the chairmanship of Advisor, Fire & Emergency Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence, Relief and Rehabilitation & Chairman SDPDB, Pungro, S Kiusumew Yimkhiung.

As per the DIPR report, during the review of the last session, on-going road maintenance work between Pungro and Salomi was deliberated. The construction of a waiting shed at VG Barrack, Pungro, was also discussed and forwarded to the concerned higher department. Deliberating on the construction of Pungro Town Council office, the Chairman explained that the proposal has been stalled due to the non-existence of town local bodies. Besides, it was also informed that construction of a new Government Primary School (GPS) at Pinkim Village is set to begin shortly.

While discussing new agendas of the day, the chairman SDPDB highlighted the existing departments under the jurisdiction of ADC office which is more like a mini secretariat. However, due to the existence of offices and halls belonging to civil organisations, it is not applicable. Therefore, the board deliberated and decided to debate more in the future to shift those offices and halls.

The proposal to convert the Geology and Mining guest house into a sub-post was discussed and agreed to forward it to the department. Re-creation of the Forest Ranger Office, which was previously shifted out of Pungro, was also discussed, approved and forwarded to the concerned department. The board emphasized the need for adequate manpower and staffing.

The proposal for recognition and upgradation of St. John School, Kiusam, and the proposal for the establishment of Little Angels' Wing School, currently under provisional recognition was approved and forwarded to the department.
