PWD (R&B) Minister, officials survey area for Pongshei Bridge

Longleng, January 27 (MExN): Minister for PWD (R&B) Tongpang Ozukum and Chairman PDA & President NDPP, Chingwang Konyak along with a host of NGOs, civil societies, public leaders from Mon and Longleng districts and party workers surveyed the area for construction of Pongshei Bridge on January 26.


Speaking to the gathering at the survey programme at Lainyu field, Ozukum said that the large participants of people from both the district signified the urgency and importance of the bridge that would promote social, economic and better connection between Longleng and Mon districts.


Asserting that he would not make any assurance without feasibility report of the technicians and engineers, since construction of the bridge has become a priority of the people it has become his dream project. The Minister stated that he would apprise the Chief Minister for early construction of the bridge to fulfill the needs and desire of the people, according to a press release from DPRO, Longleng.


Ozukum also appealed to the people to maintain peace and tranquility with their neighbors and acknowledged the unity and cordial relationship upheld by the people of Mon and Longleng.


Chairman PDA & President NDPP Chingwang Konyak, President PPC and Ex-MLA N Metpong Phom also spoke at the function.


In their speeches they shared and highlighted the background and history of the road and bridge connecting the two district headquarters as the shortest distance. They also pointed out that construction of the bridge was neglected in the past due to politicizing development projects by the political parties.


Earlier, invocation and welcome address was proposed by Chingbam Phom, Pastor NBC and Hamyong Phom Vice President NDPP, Longleng while vote of thanks was pronounced by Kemang Angh, Wanching village and Lukai Konyak, Pastor Chingphoi village respectively.
