PYWU celebrates 50 years in wrestling

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14 (MExN): The Phühgimi Youth Welfare Union (PYWU) celebrated a Golden Jubilee commemorating 50 years in Wrestling at Phühgi village, Phek on January 12 under the theme ‘Excel through Fitness.’ 

Vevo Sapu, Director (Retd) Art& Culture unveiled the monolith and hoisted the wrestling flag. In his speech, he encouraged the youth to uphold the traditional values and the legacy of the village and strive towards an excellent future ahead. 

The program was led by Josahi Shijo, Convenor, Organizing Committee, and welcome address by Lakhoto Sapu, President, PYWU.

In the wrestling senior category Veyito Sapu was the winner, second position (Velotsü Sapu), third and fourth (Külüzho Nienu) and (To Sapu). Vesü Sapu won the middle category and Joku Sapu bagged the second position. For the junior category, Dütü Sapu won the first position, Lhütsüzo Vero, Mütsevo Shijo and Swüdüveto Sapu won the second, third and fourth positions. 

The function ended with prize distribution ceremony and  de-hoisting of the wrestling flag by the Razuve Sapu, Head Teacher (Rtd), GMS Phühgi.
