We were glad to read the Press Release of Somba and friends regarding the delay of FM Radio Station, Tuensang. According to them, FM Radio station at Tuensang was to be installed in January 2005. But if we are not mistaken, setting up of radio station was done some few years back as the signboard in NAP (Tsg) itself clearly indicates so. And moreover, it was learned that initially some songs were heard broadcasting by diverting on BV Bharati station. Anyway, supporting their views and feeling it necessary to inquire, we would like to ask some few doubts to the concern department that - if the proposed installation of FM radio station was set up, then, how comes some songs were aired in SW/MW? That too was heard only in some location in Tuensang. If the AIR Tuensang has been installed, then is there any employee (though we heard there is!)? Hope they are getting their monthly salary for their “Work Not Done” and if they are not getting anything because of not functioning, then we beg to apologise for interfering in this matter.
And here, a little about AIR, Kohima. It is not a complain but just a suggestion. Yes, we really do appreciate its functioning. But one thing,- is not the infrastructure of AIR, Kohima station too old?
Though the broadcastings are very clear to hear in Kohima, yet when we hear the same in far-flung remote areas like Tuensang, there is lots of disturbances(we called it CHINA DISTURB) and the real broadcast is not clearly audible.
Therefore, we request the Govt. or the concern authority to look into the above cited matter as it is a very important media for the masses, especially for the poor village folks where there is no daily papers available and so, the radio becomes their only ‘Ear and Eye’ to know the outside world.
