Rainfall activities in Nagaland to continue till May 7: NSDMA

Kohima, April 29 (MExN): Nagaland will continue to experience light rainfall and cloudy moderate rain in almost all districts till May 7, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) updated on Tuesday.

However, in isolated places, the rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, it stated.

According to the NSDMA, while intermittent rainfall is expected across Nagaland, Peren district may experience heavy rainfall, particularly on May 7.

In this connection, it advised avoiding lightning-prone areas and taking necessary precautions, as high winds may disrupt communication and connectivity.

The NSDMA also highlighted that due to heavy rainfall in the hill sector, the State’s lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli, are vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods. The Authority thus urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period.

All the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments were also urged to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the rainy season.
