Ranji Trophy: Nagaland beat Manipur by an innings & 68 runs

The Nagaland cricket team which beat Manipur in their first Ranji Trophy match of the season on December 19. 

 

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 19 (MExN): Nagaland beat Manipur by an innings and 68 runs to win their first Ranji match of the season at the Videocon Ground, Kolkata on December 19. 


Manipur had won the toss on day 1 and elected to bat first managing to score 116 before being bowled out in 50.1 overs


Nagaland’s second innings was marked by an impressive batting performance with the team scoring 400 runs before being bowled out in 95.2 overs. 


SS Mundhe was Nagaland’s highest scorer with 148 runs , followed by Jonathan with 79 runs. Imliwati and Tahmeed also contributed with 52 runs and 42 runs respectively. 


By stumps of day, Manipur were at 84 runs having lost 3 wickets in 31 overs. 


On the final day of the match, Nagaland bowled out Manipur for 216 runs in 19.2 overs. Stuart Binny picked up 3 wickets while Jonathan and Tahmeed grabbed 2 wickets each. 


Nagaland will next face Sikkim from December 25 to 28 at Bhubneshwar.
