RBA organizes mega exhibition in Jalukie

Peren | March 8 : The Rongmei Baptist Association (RBA), in collaboration with a German based association EED and Manipur’s RNBA, conducted a mega exhibition-cum sales with their SHGs in Jalukie town. Organized with a vision to open up avenues for the SHGs to promote their products and be equipped with the experience of introducing value added service and sales, the event saw multitudes rushing for assortment of local products.
“We do this to encourage women entrepreneurship in our society. Women are not only house managers; they have all potentials to excel in business and be bread earners of their family as well”, stated Ms. Akeina Gonmei, Development Secretary of RBA, who also promised to eventually expand the plan to commercial hubs beginning with Dimapur.
The products of the exhibition— ranging from tailored shirts to beautiful evergreen roses —also displayed several quality including slices of dehydrated and neatly packaged star-fruits, yam stems and live orchid plants. They all have survival prospective in the competing market and it is obvious the concepts of value addition in products have well been introduced to all SHGs by the RBA, a pioneering organization in the field of development and self reliance who have presently 265 SHGs enrolled under its care and training.
“SHGs should come up with a voice in the business world today. They need a platform and several avenues to showcase their products. This exhibition by RBA is just an impartation, a model example for the SHGs to enable themselves carry out such exhibitions in the future”, said Rev. H.M Gonmei, Executive Secretary of RBA Nagaland.  The event was inaugurated by JTC chairman, Gaubeu Rangkau. Altogether 25 SHGs participated in the event.  As many SHGs from Peren district came forward to participate.
