Newmai News Network IMPHAL | JULY 25 The United Committee, Manipur (UCM) said that the Central team "felt something is wrong” only after they had visited at the Border Pillar 81 along the Indo-Myanmar border. The three member Central team comprised of Priya Ranganathan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs (Bangladesh and Myanmar), Av Dharma Reddy, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (Border Management) and Lieutenant General Girish Kumar, Survey General of India today conducted spot inspection at Border Pillar (BP) 81 with the civil societies, villagers and the state government officials. Speaking to media persons at the UCM office this evening after inspecting Border Pillar (BP) 81 with the Central team, UCM president Sunil Karam said that the team could not fulfill what people wanted from them to do. He alleged that the visiting team did not carry proper equipment and instruments that required in the survey. However, the team assured to conduct a re-survey within a month by sending another team after consulting with the Myanmar Government. The Central team came without proper knowledge of the issue and refused to visit the original area of the Border Pillar 81, the UCM leader said. However, after the people requested them repeatedly "we reached the area", Sunil said. Only then the Central team realized that “something is wrong", earlier, the UCM leader added. The UCM president then said the neighboring Myanmar villagers also participated in today's survey. The Myanmerese were also wanted to solve the problem, Sunil added. The UCM leaders then appealed to the Centre team to deeply study on the issue. They demanded to conduct re-survey in all the Indo-Myanmar Border Pillars and not only in BP 81 area, the UCM leaders said, adding, "We will keeping observing the development".
