Nagaland’s PHED chief engineer Er Kevisekho Kruse today challenged the students to come forward and walk an extra mile to have an independent and secure life.
“We need to work hard. We need to be responsible,” he said while addressing the inaugural function of the 27th Biennial General Conference of the Angami Students' Union (ASU) here. Basing on the conference theme “Realistic Response,” Er Kruse said a time has come to act responsibly and live purposefully. He called upon the students to inculcate the spirit of hard work and live a “dignify life.” Nagas don’t want to work and we have become lazy, he lamented adding that such trend would lead to a bleak future.
Er Kruse also stressed on the need to convert Kohima city into a business friendly and clean city. He challenged the student community to develop a friendly atmosphere and let others stay comfortably and at the same time asked them to expand the horizon of networking.
Angami Public Organization, President, Dr. Vilhousa Seleyi asked the students community to be productive, honest and free from corruption so that others would gain benefit from them.
He asked them to have a clear understanding of the subject matters and not to be part of depending others but let other section of the people depend on them.
Naga Students’ Federation, Speaker, Joshua Thong said that ASU is one of the strongest backbones of the NSF and hoped that ASU will continue to push the Federation towards greater heights. He was confident that ASU will be the guiding force to bring all the Nagas together.
ASU President Dievi Yano in his presidential address was optimistic that some pragmatic approaches would emerge from its conference theme “Realistic Response” during three days. In this, he called upon the students to be attentive, learn something and use their expertise to the fullest so that all the Angamis will gain benefit from them and march forward.
Earlier, the inaugural function was chaired by organizing committee convenor Kelhouneizo Yhome. Later, in the academic session, Dr. Hovithal Sothu (Deputy Director, Administrative Training Institute (ATI) and Kekhrie Yhome (Former Asst. Professor, Delhi & Nagaland University talked on "Excellence - Realistic Response" and "Socio-economic and political conditions - Realistic Response" respectively.
Meanwhile, devotional service will take place on March 9 from 9:00 AM onwards with Rev. Dr. Sanyii Iralu (Principal Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechiima) as the speaker. He will speak on "The call for Integrity - Realistic Response." The speaker for the valedictory session scheduled at 3:00 PM will be Er. Krosii Rhetso (Chief Engineer R&B), who will speak on "Affirmative Decision - Realistic Response."
