
Mokokchung, October 11 (MExN): The launching programme of a new Red Ribbon Club (RRC) at Mokokchung College of Teacher Education, Yimyu, Mokokchung was held on October 11, jointly organized by the MCTE and Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
Speaking on the importance of blood donation, Dr T Chubala Aier, CMO Mokokchung, urged upon the faculty and student-teachers of the college to save lives by becoming voluntary blood donors for life. Metevinuo Sakhrie, Joint Director IEC, NSACS presented a comprehensive picture of the basics of HIV/AIDS, scenario of HIV in the state and also the main provisions of the HIV & AIDS (Prevention & Control) Act 2017.
The topic on RRC guidelines and activities was taken up by Chongkoi Khaming AD MM i/c YA NSACS. During her exhortation the Principal of MCTE, T. Alemla Longkumer urged the student-teachers of the college to seriously take their responsibilities as mentors of school going students and educate them regarding the correct information about HIV/AIDS and importance of blood donation. Molu Jamir, President of Mokokchung Voluntary Blood Donors Association delivered the motivational talk on Blood Donation.
The programme was chaired by E. Arhomo Kikon, invocation prayer by Temsutoshi Longkumer BA 3rd Sem MCTE, welcome address by Dr. Temsurenla Vice Principal MCTE and vote of thanks was given by Imlimenla Jamir, Asst. Prof MCTE.
Altogether, a total of 105 participants attended the launching programme which was followed by a voluntary blood donation camp. A total of 19 student-teachers and faculty of MCTE came forward for voluntary blood donation.
With this launching programme, a total of 68 colleges and educational institutes across the 11 districts of the state are implementing the Red Ribbon Club programme.
