ReDimension Games, a game development studio from Kohima, has won the Upcoming Game of the Year Award for their game ‘Sojourn Past’ at the India Game Developers Conference (IGDC) in Hyderabad on November 3.
2023 is the 15th year of the India Game Developers Conference (IGDC). It is the biggest and a very significant developer conference in India and South Asia.
Sojourn Past was pitted against four other games from major studios in the country— ‘Dream Cricket 2024’ by Dream Game Studios (A Dream 11 company), ‘Fishbowl’ by imissmyfriends.studio, ‘Metal Haven’ by Xigma Games, and ‘Indus Battle Royals’ by SuperGaming.
After winning the award in Hyderabad, the developers from ReDimension Games thanked their families, friends and their team for supporting their endeavor and helping them succeed. They also thanked a few people who helped them while participating in the conference in Hyderabad—Sridhar Muppidi, CEO of purpletalk, for his valuable mentorship; and Ashemo Ezung and Whuto Chishi for their help in their booth at IGDC.
ReDimension Games, which was founded in 2018, comprise of Pekrukhrietuo Pienyu, Imlijongshi Ao and Loyievi Kennao. After their founding, over the next few years the team built small games and experimented with various prototypes, according to their press kit.
In early 2022, the team decided to pursue a fully original and commercial indie title and development of Sojourn Past started. The game is scheduled to release in 2024 for Windows. Sojourn Past is a pixel art action adventure set in an enchanting and mysterious world. The game features action and bullet hell combat gameplay elements mixed with light-platforming elements.
