Rongmei Youth volunteers deputed to the village
Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Rongmei Naga Youth Organization (RNYO) has cautioned the Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) from creating any situation in Namthanjang Village, and instead, comply with the process of settling the matter by the competent customary authority.
A press release from RNYO Secretary General Kanpatlung Pamei stated that the organisation along with the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization (RNSO) had undertaken a joint mission to study/verify the issue of the internal conflict of Namthanjang Village under Senapati District.
Claiming that the internal conflict has been complicated with the involvement of ZYF, the RNYO expressed its resentment over the alleged act of “violence and intimidations” committed by ZYF to the villagers, “executing laws by their own hands”, and creating a volatile and adverse situation.
RNYO stated that during the course of their verification, it had found that the cause and nature of the conflict was a “leadership crisis within”.
This has affected the peace and normal activity of the students and villagers since its eruption, it stated and informed that Rongmei youth volunteers have been deputed to the village as “security measure” to maintain the situation till amicable solution and settlement is arrived.
In this regard, RNYO also flayed the Government for failing to provide necessary security to the villagers and stated that this has put the whole villagers in an insecure condition.
Observing that ZYF is “over-exercising” their role as youth front, RNYO stated, “They are not the authorized or competent authority to execute judgment or take up [such] cases.”
Such matters should be tackled by the apex body according to the Rongmei customary arbitration or civil authority under the concerned Government, the youth organisation reasoned.
Expressing objections and also denouncing the actions of the ZYF “in toto”, the RNYO stated that it will intervene with security measures to let the right and competent customary authority to settle the case.
