Refreshers training for panel lawyers concludes

Kohima, May 31 (MExN): A two-day refreshers training for panel lawyers under the aegis of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) concluded here on May 30 at Administrative Training Institute (ATI).  

In the valedictory function, Justice LS Jamir, Judge Gauhati Court and Executive Chairman, NSLSA urged the panel lawyers to go ahead in spreading awareness despite the challenges faced by them due to strong presence of customary law especially in rural areas, a press release stated. People in Longleng, he noted, are becoming more aware of their legal rights as there has been an increase in cases being registered after the legal services actively started working in the district.  

He underlined the importance of training lawyers on civil and criminal law and also urged the lawyers to approach senior advocates and take help in certain critical cases.  

Justice Jamir also felicitated Cheliam Khiamniungan for having served as Master Trainer, NSLSA and the panel lawyers with certificate of participation.  

NSLSA Member Secretary, Mezivolu T Therie apprised that the lawyers were trained by 13 resource persons covering wide range of topics. She reminded that it is satisfying to serve the underprivileged through legal services and further urged the panel lawyers to give back to the society through legal services.  

NSLSA initiated the refreshers training to increase the capacity of the panel lawyers in order to render competent and quality legal services in the state.
