Rio mourns Arjun Singh

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN):
Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio mourns the demise of former Union Minister Arjun Singh. In a message received here, Rio said Singh would be remembered as a man who was “openly known for his firm ideologies on socialism in the fast liberalization economy.” Rio said Singh was a MP in the Madhya Pradesh legislative Assembly since 1957 and held various positions in the state and became chief minister of the state in 1980. “A veteran leader, late Arjun Singh had a strong and chequered political career. As chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and Minister in the Union Government, he made marvelous contributions to the welfare f minorities the backward classes and the underprivileged by his meaningful interventions. His voice for them was intense and was heeded,” Rio said. “In the history of India he would be remembered as one man who was openly known for his firm ideologies on socialism in the fast liberalizing economy and believe on secularism in the times ravaged by sectarian tendencies.” Calling Singh’s life as model for millions, Rio said the country has lost a veteran parliamentarian and an unparalleled leader.  Singh was chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and Union Minister for Human Resource Development twice.

First batch of Sainik School Punglwa appears secondary school exam

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN):
Today, the first batch of Sainik School Punglwa appeared the CBSE Board Exam. A press note received here stated that the school is also the examination centre. “The school with its aim to prepare boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy also sincerely looks forward to produce young dynamic and responsible citizens, and it wishes all the students appearing for All Indian Secondary School Examination 2011 the best of luck.” The Sainik School Punglwa, popularly known as the “Pride of Nagaland” was inaugurated by AK Antony, Raksha Mantri.  The establishment of the school was the result of the initiative of Nagaland Chapter of the Old Boy’s Association of Sainik School under the able leadership of Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, informed a press note.

NNC/FGN nabs extortionist

Dimapur, March 5 (MExN):
In the view of ensuing and checking rampant taxation and extortion which has been causing quite a menace in the society, the NNC/FGN, federal Army apprehended one person namely Khekato Achumi, S/o Kheniho Achumi, resident of Thilixu village. The accused was nabbed while extorting money from business establishments in Dimapur.  The NNC /FGN in a press note issued by its joint secretary, ‘Rali Wali’ G Zhimomi stated that the public are requested to cooperate in “disposing such imposters and extortionists, whose criminal activities stains and stigmatizes the good image of true patriotic national workers”. It has warned that such atrocities and anti-government activities shall be sternly penalized to uphold the very principle of the Naga national movement.
