Ex-Minister resigns from RJD
DIMAPUR, May 19 (MExN): T. Kongo, ex-Minister and working president RJD Nagaland unit has resigned from the primary membership of the RJD due to lack of transparency in the party. T. Kongo was first elected from 57 Thonokyu A/C on NPC ticket in 1989. He was reelected in 1993 from the same party. He was the PWD Minister from 1989-92.
DPDB Chairman donates to IRCS
DIMAPUR, May 19 (MExN): The Advisor Sericulture and Co-operation, Government of Nagaland & Chairman DPDB, Dimapur, Azheto Zhimomi donated Rs 2 lakhs towards the Building Construction Fund of IRCS, Dimapur. The IRCS, Dimapur branch in a press note stated that it is grateful to Azheto for his generous contribution. It also mentioned that many well-wishers contributed in cash and kind towards the construction of Office Building at DC Complex, District Disability Rehabilitation Centre works, fire relief, flood relief, medical camps, blood donation camps etc.
Born Again and Chuchang enthralls Peren
DIMAPUR, May 19 (MExN): A Stand-Up Comedy Show featuring renowned comedians Born Again and Chuchang, the first and second runners' up winner of the Naga Laughter Sensation was held at the All Saints' Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Peren on May 8 organised by the Peren Students' Union, Nagaland. A press note issued by Mireulung Sephe stated that though the programme was delayed due to "technical snag", the two comedians enthralled the audience with their whims and brought the House down. Aotula Ozukum of All Saints Higher Secondary School, Peren, who was ranked in the 10th position in the recently declared NBSE HSLC 2011 was felicitated during the show for which SDO (Agri) Zielegai Ndang did the honour of giving away the Meritorious Award to her for bringing laurels to the People as well as the district in general.
Khonoma youth body condemns brutal killing
DIMAPUR, May 19 (MExN):The Khonoma Youth organization (KYO) expressed deep shock over the tragic death of Vilieto Pier who was brutally killed by the criminal near Thekreju village on May 7. KYO president in a press release strongly condemned the inhuman act perpetrated upon a member of KYO and a peace loving citizens. KYO also urged upon the District Administration and Police department to trace the culprit and book him accordingly to the law of the land at the earliest. While still mourning, KYO expressed its profound gratitude to the people of Thekreju village and the youth of Medziphema town who took all the pains to trace out the dead body and later take it home to Khonoma village. It stated that KYO is not able to repay them but pray that God will reward them abundantly. KYO further conveyed its deepest condolence to the bereaved family while praying that God may grant them courage to bear the tragedy and also prays for the departed soul to rest in the presence of God.
Patkai Hr Sec School honors merit students
Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Patkai Higher Secondary School (PHSS), Chumukedima, Seithekema held a felicitation programme for its meritorious students who achieved top ranks and star marks in the recently declared HSSLC and HSLC results under the Nagaland Board of School Education.
It was held at Bundrock Chapel-Auditorium at 2:00 pm in the presence of all the school managing board members, faculty and staff and parents. PHSS vice-principal, Henry K Shimray in a press release said that the concerned subject teachers were also honoured with cash as a reward.
The meritorious students in the HSSLC (Arts) are Top 1 Bendangrenla Longkumer with 83% (Eng, PSC, Hist, Eco & INF) and Top 4 Sesino Savino with 78.33% (Eng, Hist, MSC). The HSLC includes Rofiqul Islam with 83.60% (Eng, Maths, Sc, SS, Hindi, EE).
Orgs flay rape and murder of minor girl
Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): The Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) strongly condemns the recent rape and murder of minor girl by unidentified miscreant(s) on May 14, 2011. A press note issued by Vikato Shikhu, general secretary, WSH appealed to the superintend of Police Dimapur and Administration to act and apprehend the culprit immediately so that such devilish behavior or action does not take place again. The WSH conveyed condolence to the bereaved family.
Also, a separate press note issued by Zumchilo Patton, president and Neilakhonuo Mary, general secretary, Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) expressed deep shock and pain to hear of the incident. “We strongly condemn the gruesome killing and rape of the minor girl. Time and again, the dignity of women have been trampled and taken for granted. The culprits should be arrested at the earliest, and punishment of the highest order should be awarded so that such inhuman act in our society does not occur again. Our sincere prayer and condolence to the family members of the victim,” NCWA stated.
Chakhesang Region FGN organizes committee to oversee financial matters

It is a shame to fight over leadership: NNC
Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): NNC government, the parent body with its senior leaders today has demanded resignation of V Nagi and Kiumikam.
“…it is a big shame of them to fight over leadership and creating division and separative (sic),” stated a press note issued by senior CEC member Kiheto Zhimomi.
The note stated that the CEC members and the senior leaders of NNC condemn any act that would create division.
“We today therefore inform the Naga public that NNC the mother Politic of Naga cannot be shaken, destroy, brought down, over leadership or any further issue, the Govt. NNC is still alive and active as before and we support and still support the peace process of reconciliation the FNR towards Ignition for peace and integrity in the Naga homeland in particulars (sic).”
