The Deputy Commissioner has issued a notification directing all village councils and VDB Secretaries of 23 villages under Zunheboto Town to register their organisations with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in order to avail the Grand-in-Aid (GIA) for new projects. The registration process will begin on February 1 and will be open until February 15.
The villages included in the registration directive are Asukhomi, Lochomi, Yezami, Lizu Aviqhato, Lizu New, Lizu Old, Lizu Naghuto, Hekiye, Newland, Kawoto, Baimho, Shotomi, Natha New, Natha Old, Kulhopu, Nikuto, Ghukiye, Xukhepu, Zungti, Sheyipu, Yemishe, and Sukhalu.
In a media address, Chinglem Konyak, NCS, EAC Zunheboto, emphasized that the registration and application process for GIA has now been digitized and is available on online portals. He mentioned that the Village Development Board (VDB) Secretaries and Village Council Chairperson will be the key facilitators, helping the villagers in availing these government schemes.
Konyak stressed the importance of linking correct Aadhaar details and mobile numbers to the Aadhaar, as this is a mandatory requirement for availing the various schemes. He further noted that NGOs such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Students’ Unions will also be eligible for registration under the GIA scheme. Interested organisations have been asked to prepare their proposals and register on the portal between February 1 and February 15.
