Release of NSCN-K cadres by NSCN-IM appreciated

DIMAPUR, JAN 25 (MExN): The Tangkhul Peace Committee, Pukreila (Tangkhul ladies married to other tribes), Kohima expressed deep concern over the incident that happened on January 23, leading to the arrest of 3 NSCN (K) cadres (now released) and one dying in custody. However, it termed the release of the 3 NSCN (K) cadres as a good sign and gesture following the proclamation declared by Chairman of NSCN (IM) Isaac Swu on January 13, 2007. “While we are working for restoration of peace and reconciliation we were deeply perturbed by the incident that happened on January 23, 2007 leading to the arrest of 3 NSCN (K) cadres (now released) and one died in the custody of NSCN (IM)” stated a joint press note from Sereno Chopi, Pukriela, and N phierim, Convener of the peace committee.

The matter was discussed on January 25, and decided unanimously to support various Sumi organizations such as Western Sumi Hoho, Western Kukami Hoho, Western Sumi Totimi Hoho, Western Sumi Students Union and Western Sumi Sports Association.

“The dead body of a person is so dear to the Naga society. Hence it is appealed to the NSCN (IM) authority to kindly hand over the dead body to the family members to enable them to take up the last rite” it also appealed. It requests the Naga public, village elders and organizations to step forward and press upon all the factions in Nagaland to forgive one another in the name of Christ Jesus.
