Relocation of Dimapur DC Office:  CSO Core Committee asks  govt to respond ‘in writing’

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The CSO Core Committee Against Shifting of DC Office Dimapur reiterated that the protest against shifting of DC Office shall continue indefinitely, until the government respond or notify the CSO Core Committee in writing.

This was stated in a press release issued following a meeting with Nagaland Minister for Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Jacob Zhimomi on Wednesday to deliberate on the matter. The release stated that during the meeting, the Core Committee members expressed “discontentment on the lackadaisical attitude of the present dispensation in addressing the rights and demands for the people of Dimapur.”

The Committee further reiterated that the demands made in the memorandum and ultimatum were not made against particular community or place and also reaffirmed its stand that DC office Dimapur should not be shifted elsewhere in any manner, it said.

The release also stated that the committee conveyed to the minister that “any commitment or assurance made by or on behalf of the government should be by way of an official notification.” It also demanded that the government rescind the September 7 notification issued by the Principal Secretary, Home, for shifting of ADC, Election office, Disaster Management, and other branches.

It said that the Minister “apprised and assured before the Committee that the Deputy Commissioner’s office Dimapur was never intended to shift nor shall be shifted anywhere from the present location.” However, the committee, while acknowledging the affirmative response given by the Minister, reiterated that it would continue the protest, “Until the government respond or notify the CSO Core Committee in writing.”

Meanwhile, Minister Jacob took to Twitter informing that “the matter is laid to rest.” “Met the CSOs of Dimapur district & discussed about the issues in the district.. I am thankful to them for understanding d govt. Assured to them that DC HQ will be at Dmp. So the matter is laid to rest. [sic],” he tweeted on Wednesday evening.
