Dimapur, June 11 (MExN): Dimapur Youth Organisation (DYO) has denounced the renaming of Dimapur and stated that it is not an issue of renaming but a “hidden agenda by some few individuals who want to make something out of it for their selfish interest”.
“This is also revealed by the action of the Government of Nagaland that the issue was suspiciously created without the consensus of the cabinet and that the so called bearer committee was created and dissolved without any formalities. In this we appreciate the wise decision of the DAN Government for hideously closing the issue by dissolving the search committee howsoever belated it may be,” the Organisation stated in a press note.
It also mentioned that Dimapur belongs to all the Nagas and other indigenous inhabitants irrespective of different inclination or affiliation. However, as history never lies, the present Dimapur once belonged to Dimasa Kachari, Garo and other indigenous inhabitants. “…whoever wants to rename the name of Dimapur will not only be his whimsical thinking but it will create unwarranted communal differences amongst the denizens of Dimapur.”
It also added: “We stand for peaceful c0-existance of all the Nagas and its co-inhabitants in Nagaland for prosperity.”
