Tseminyu, June 7 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho has stated that it stands by its President, Kenyuseng Tep, for holding the post of Deputy Speaker in the Naga Hoho. A clarification was issued on the matter today by Rengma Hoho General Secretary, Thanchilo Kath.
“Rengma Hoho has no objection of Kenyuseng Tep holding Deputy Speaker post in Naga Hoho where he has been sincerely and honestly rendering his service for the Nagas. Rengma Hoho still upholds his leadership,” it stated.
The Rengma Hoho expressed regret that “those individuals questioning the leadership of our member in the service of the Naga is purely an ulterior motive to tarnish his image in particular and the Rengmas in general; it is our sincere effort that prejudices do not rule the societies of the Nagas.”
It reiterated that the constitution of the Naga Hoho does not restrict any one from being its official because he holds some post in another social organization, except that one should not belong to or be inclined to any political party or hold any office of profit. “The same way individual from other tribe too hold a position in different organization in different capacity which is purely self sacrifice for the service of the people,” it maintained.
The Rengma Hoho held to its commitment that “any of its members participating in any organization which involves the interest of Nagas will have the full backing of our people.” It cautioned people from ‘antagonizing’ the leadership of the Rengma community without valid reason.
