Dimapur, Jan 29 (MExN): Rengma students are all out for penalizing truant government employees, teachers and likened irresponsible sections. The Rengma Students Union has decided on imposing hefty fines on government employees who play truant as well as teachers who neglect their responsibilities. Decision to this affect was taken at a RSU Executive Council meeting on January 20.
Terming irregular government employees in the Rengma areas as a menace and inconvenience for the administration and to the people, the RSU has decided to impose a fine of Rs.200 per day on erring employees, which will be deducted from his or her salary without further notice. The truancy, President Zentilo Tep and General Secretary Thonselo Magh said, has been going on in spite of repeated requests from the students’ body and NGOs of the area. The problem continues to be unsolved. The RSU will also conduct surprise checking and if any employee is found absent without proper leave, the union will impose the fine. The RSU requests all the employees to be ‘permanently settled down’ in their respective employed place on all working days.
Also, the RSU expects a sincere and dedicated service from the teaching community. The RSU lamented that as per the reports of most government schools, it was found that some teachers neglect their responsibilities. As such the RSU has directed its units to conduct surprise checking in the area and provide detailed reports to the apex body from time to time. If any teacher is found to be irregular, the RSU will serve an explanation notice and will impose a fine of Rs 200 from his/her salary.
The union also takes note of excessive fund drives by various unions and organizations which it said has “created a headache”. The union has banned fund rise in any form. “Any organization or union violating it will have to pay a huge amount of fine and the sale tickets and other items will be seized by the RSU” the executives warned. For the essential case, an organization can get authorization from the RSU which again has to get permission from the ADC or TTC office. As such the public are requested to inform the RSU if any-self styled organization or union undertake fund drives without authorization.
Further any individual involving in business or trade is requested to get proper license or permit. No expire goods are to be sold. At the same time the RSU make an appeal to all shopkeepers “especially pan., talab, wine cigarette and other intoxicated item sellers”, not to sell such items to student s. In case of violation, the RSU will impose a fine of Rs 500 from the seller as well as the buyer.
The RSU also requests its officers and Doubashis (DBs) not to issue any recommendation to non-locals applying for citizenship and schedule tribe certificate. The RSU also inform all non-locals working in the Rengma areas to get identity cards from the RSU office. ID holders are to get theirs renewed in time. In case any non-local is found without ID card, the union will take action against the defaulter.
