Rengmas embark on new journey with creation of Tseminyu district

The Rengma community today embarked on new chapter of history with the formal inauguration of Tseminyu district as the 13th district of Nagaland by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio here at Rengma Sports Association Ground, Tseminyu.

Joining the community in celebrating the occasion, he stated, ‘Today I am happy and share my happiness for the 13th district and pray that God bless Tseminyu to be a role model for other Districts.’

Rengmas, though a small tribe, have contributed immensely to the Naga community, Rio stated, further expressing hope that they would carry forward the good legacy of their leaders and be a model district for economic development.

He further noted that that Rengmas are known as hardworking and kind hearted and for their friendliness with rich in culture and tradition.

With the creation of Tseminyu district, Rio sought the cooperation of the people so as to enable the government to undertake various developmental activities in the district.

He said that districts in Nagaland have been categorised into three - big district, medium district and small district.
He assured that equitable mechanism would be exercised in terms of administration and development.

Stating that the budget session of Nagaland Legislative Assembly have been scheduled in March, he called upon Rengma community to identity their immediate requirements and priorities for necessary funding from the State Government.

He assured that the government will facilitate developmental activities to Tseminyu district during a year to go for completion of the present government.

He said that creation Tseminyu district is one of the commitments of NDPP and its alliance partners during 2018 elections with the slogan “Change is Coming.”

Rio branded Tseminyu as “Historical district” in line with its immense participation and significant contribution in Naga community and history.

‘They had participated in all the important events in Naga history,’ he said.

Stating that Rengmas have accomplished the blessings of the integrity and principle of their leaders, he called upon the community to carry forward the legacy the left behind.

He also called upon the people to stay united and strive to position Tseminyu as ac role model and peaceful district for others to emulate.

Meanwhile,  the Chief Minister also mentioned that the representative of 12 Tseminyu A/C, R Khing has worked hard for the creation of the district and also appreciated his  all the cabinet colleagues and all the elected members, NGOs, Churches, various civil societies, Hohos for the support of his leadership.

As a DIPR report, he added that the creating of 4 more districts as well as many other development in the state were enabled by their support.  

Earlier, the Chief Minister also unveiled the Monolith of Tseminyu District.

He also informed that Shamator district will be formaly inaugurated on March 4.

President Rengma Hoho, Pollen Tep in his welcome address also stated that the Rengmas joyfully welcomed each and every one of the 13th district and added that it is a testament of the solidarity extended towards an enduring aspiration that is finally fulfilled by the Government of the Day.
