Renovated Sub Health Centre inaugurated at Kitsubozou

The newly renovated Sub- Health Centre at Kitsubozou was formally inaugurated  by Dr. N. Leamnyie Konyak, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima on  May 2.

Describing the accomplishment of such facility as a momentous milestone for the citizen of Kitsubozou colony, the CMO said “It is a pledge of care, a tangible hope for a better future, and a concrete commitment to making affordable healthcare accessible to everyone.”

The facility was made possible through the crucial financial support of the 15th Finance Commission health grants during 2021-22.

Dr. Leamnyie hoped that this facility will serve as a model for providing Universal Health coverage to all.

This Sub- Health Centre is manned by 1 ANM, 2 DHAIs, 5 Medical Attendants and 1 Dresser. He urged upon the staff to serve the public with dedication, empathy and honesty.

He called upon the community to treat the staff as partner and ensure this establishment operates smoothly.

Further, Dr. Leamnyie called upon the community to take ownership of this health centre and also told the residents to avail the basic health care facilities and services from this centre.

‘Work towards healthier, stronger community’
Dr. Leamnyie asserted that health centres plays an incredibly vital role in providing both preventive and promotive health care services.

‘We are rolling out an expanded range of comprehensive primary health, which includes twelve incredibly vital packages,” he said, adding “ We are starting from the very beginning with care in pregnancy and childbirth, moving right through to neonatal, infant, childhood and adolescent services.”

He said that the medical department manages common communicable disease and providing outpatient care for minor ailments while also focussing on the screening, prevention, and management of serious non-communicable diseases.

“We are also looking at specialized, localized care, basic oral health, ophthalmic and ENT problems and crucial screening for mental health ailments,” said Dr. Leamnyie.

Stating that this centre is armed with the right tools, he said “As per Government of India norms, we are equipped with 106 essential medicines available completely free of cost, at least 12 pieces of vital medical equipment and 14 essential diagnostic services.”

Touching on Nagaland Communitization of Public Institutions & Service Act in 2022, Dr. Leamnyie said “Health is no longer just the government’s job. It is the joint responsibility of the government and the community.”

In this, he said the community can contribute through moral support, cash or in- kind contribution to meet the gaps where there are unavoidable shortages.

Stating that the department is absolutely committed to providing the best services to the public in consonance with health care as a fundamental right’, he said “Let us all work together to create a healthier, stronger community.”

In his address, Kitsubozou Panchayat chairman Dzieseneilie Sachii thanked the Health & Family Welfare department for extending the health care facility to the citizens of the colony.   

The programme was chaired by Aziebu Theyo while Pfiimeza Pfukri invoked God’s blessings.
