DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 26 (MExN): Another case of abduction has come to light once again in Dimapur. This time again, the victim is a 10-year old school going boy. According to reliable sources, the abduction occurred on the morning of September 22 last from Signal Basti. The abductors have reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs. 2 lakh from the boy’s family. A non-Naga, the boy’s father is said to be a small time construction contractor residing at Signal Basti. The sources disclosed that according to some unconfirmed reports, another member from the same family was abducted only some weeks back and released after payment of ransom.
The third in the month of September
This is the fifth such instance reported in a space of three months, involving school going children and the third in the month of September alone, not including those that went unreported. Making the abductors all the bolder and the public more apprehensive, not a single person has been arrested in any of the kidnappings thus far.
According to another unconfirmed report, the case is not believed to be a case of abduction-for-ransom but one involving debts the boy’s father reportedly has with some persons. Unconfirmed reports are speculating that the boy’s father owed an undisclosed amount of money to some unidentified persons. Unable to pay off the debts, the boy is believed to have been abducted to force the father to repay the debts, some reports say.
