The news papers publication on 30/07/2025, in the Morung Express with regard to the KTCN's appeal to Kacharis is a frivolous appeal. In the past, there is no record that shows that the Kacharis, the Garos, the Kukis, the Hindus, the Jainis and other Non-Nagas have ever given shelters to Bangladeshis to work in their households. All the goods that are being brought to Nagaland by transportation to cater the needs the people of Nagaland are not Bangladeshis. They are Indian.
Therefore, the apprehension that the Bangladeshis would enter Nagaland and take shelter in Kacharis villages is only an imagination of the KTCN. Bangladeshis are leaving Assam and going back to Bangladesh for good. They would not dare to enter Nagaland and face exodus.
The Kacharis should be more concerned about the rights of movement and residency of the Kacharis, the Garos, the Kukis, the Mikirs and other Indians which the Nagaland government is circumventing and curtailing. Going to the High Court and filing cases to oppose the IIC curtailment of the Kacharis, the Garos, the Kukis and the Mikirs is only a temporary relief given to the tribes.
The Nagaland Government arbitrarily decaled entire Dimapur as tribal belt. It has been 47 years, the KTCN has not yet opposed it. The Kachari women married to Kachari men of Assam and non-Kacahris,
their children are denied the right of residency, but KTCN has not yet opposed the discriminatory law of Nagaland Government. The Naga women married to Non-Nagas, their children are denied the right of residency, but KTCN has not yet opposed the law. The Kacharis of Assam visiting their kin in Dimapur are prevented free entry to Dimapur, despite Dimapur being the ancestral land of the Kacharis, and illegal bifurcation of Dimapur, but the KTCN has not yet opposed them.
The fundamental and relevant issues have not been dealt with by the KTCN. It is absurd to become apprehensive of Bangladeshis's presence in Kachari villages when the Kacharis do not entertain the
Bangladeshis and give them shelter in the Kachari villages. KTCN must have greater vision and work for greater interest of all.
