Kiphire, October 14 (MExN): The New Vongti village under Kiphire district had the joy of thanking God for the gift of Rev. Sr. Nedela Magdalene, SABS, (Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament) who made her First Profession on October 7.
The felicitation cum Thanksgiving Eucharist was held on October 14 in the village in the presence of invited guests, priests and nuns and a large number of faithful. The Holy Eucharist was officiated by Rev. Fr. John Ntonse, Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Parish, Kiphire.
Earlier, Rev. Fr. Sajimon, the Parish Priest of St. Paul Parish Pungro accorded the words of welcome to Shri. Samuel, SDO (Civil) Pungro, Shilemthong, former Chairman, YTC, Kiusumew, President, Public Forum Pungro Sub Division, Village leaders in and around New Vongti, to the Fathers, sisters, and to all present.
A press release issued by Fr. Thomas Toretkiu stated that New Vongti village is one of the few villages in Nagaland which is purely a Catholic village. The village was established on 27th June 1995 and duly recognised by the Govt. of Nagaland on December 10, 2003. Today the village is proud and equally grateful to God for having chosen one of their daughters to serve in the vineyard of the Lord.
