The 35+ Mokokchung Football League Season 5 concluded today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, with N. Akok Longkumer, President of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA), attending as the special guest.
In his speech, Longkumer highlighted the deep love for football among the Naga people and urged the community, particularly the youth, to aim for excellence in the sport. He noted that while football enjoys widespread popularity, there is a growing need for more youth involvement at competitive levels. Citing the recent Dr. T Ao Tournament, Longkumer mentioned the MDFA’s difficulty in assembling a team due to a shortage of players from the district. He encouraged senior players in the 35+ league to mentor and nurture younger talent to strengthen the future of football in the region.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards. Revenant FC was crowned champions of the season, while Wasang FC finished as runners-up.
Founded in 2022, the 35+ Mokokchung Football League, formerly known as the “Mokokchung Friday League,” consists of six teams. It operates independently of any sports associations or federations and is driven by the passion and dedication of senior football players in the district.
