Opposes govt’s decision to do away with NPSC examinations for class-III posts
Dimapur, November 6 (MExN): Opposing the Nagaland Government’s decision to keep out Class-III (Non-Gazetted) posts from the purview of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), the Public Service Aspirants of Nagaland (PSAN) today submitted a representation to the Chief Minister TR Zeliang requesting him to revert to the earlier system of recruitment.
It also called for constitution of the State Selection Board (SSB).
A press release from the Media Cell PSAN maintained that the Government of Nagaland (GoN) has decided to scrap Class-III in the pay band of Rs.5200 to 20200 with Grade pay of Rs.2800/- and above from the purview of NPSC except Secretariat Assistant (SA).
The decision as per a P&AR OM dated October 26 “will kill the aspirations of thousands of hardworking civil service aspirants,” it said, pointing out that the number of posts will drastically fall to around thirty (30) or even less while the number of candidates keep increasing every year.
“The number of aspirants was around sixteen thousand (16000) in Civil Service Exam (CSE) 2016,” it added. The PSAN had raised similar concerns in September.
The PSAN further argued that since all the proposed posts are “executive posts,” with the potentiality of even reaching to the level of Head of Department (HoD), the recruitment exams should be conducted by the “highest recruiting body in the state i.e., NPSC and not by any departmental recruitment board.”
It also called upon the GoN to “immediately scrap the departmental recruitment board and start the process of setting up of State Staff Selection Board to recruit all Class-III posts with a Grade pay of less than Rs.2800.” Until all these posts are routed through NPSC, the selection to such exam “should be only written and without interview,” PSAN noted.
Stating that the civil service aspirants will never agree to the decision, the PSAN appealed the government to “revert immediately to the earlier system.”
It also urged the Chief Minister to take “immediate necessary action” on its stated points within a week time from the submission of the representation i.e. before November 13.
“The youth of the state will be left with no option but resort to indefinite statewide democratic protest against the insensitive decision of the government,” asserted PSAN in its representation.
Meanwhile, the PSAN said that the NPSC should declare the written and interview marks of CSE 2016 as per the representation submitted to the Chief Secretary on October 3.
