ASA 47th meet 2019 underway it Kohima

A two day long 47th meet 2019 of the Angami Sports Association (ASA) got underway here today at Indira Gandhi Stadium.


A good number of players from four ranges- Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA), Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA), Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) and Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) joined this two day long meet, which will continue till February 8.


They will vie for top honours in football (Men) and volleyball (Men & women).


Gracing the inaugural function as the special guest, Er. Zale Neikha, advisor youth resources & sports said that the revised Nagaland Sports Policy is on the verge of completion.


He said this comprehensive sports policy will help promote and take sports forward in Nagaland and also employment opportunity through sports quota will put into place in appropriate manner.


Er. Neikha urged upon the sports lovers to pick up the right discipline according to their capacity and physique so as to compete with others at the national and international level.


Stating that there is no dearth of talent among the Naga youth in the field of games and sports, he said the youth have to put more effort and dedication to excel.


He also stressed on the need to retrospect and identify appropriate method to expand the horizon of sports in Nagaland.


Also highlighting various initiatives of PDA government towards promotion of sports in Nagaland, he said many more good facilities and avenues will be extended to the sports persons under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, chief minister Nagaland.


The inaugural function was chaired by ASA vice president Neiketouzo Kenguruse while welcome address was delivered by ASA president Viliehu Nguzhü.


ASA assistant games secretary Meyieto Sachii administered oath to the participating teams.


With Bentilo Rengma and Visasielie Suohu as match commissioners for football and volleyball event respectively, the meet is being officiated by Kohima District Football Referees Association and Kohima District Volleyball Association.


Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) president Neivikuolie Khatsu, Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) president Roko Angami, Angami Students Union (ASU) president Visako Rino, officials from Angami Youth Organization, Angamimiapfu Mechu Krotho and several other dignitaries also present at the inaugural function.


Meanwhile, Pfüduolhou Kense, advisor Nagaland Wrestling Association will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function on February 8.


The closing function will be chaired by ASA vice president Kevi Kenneth Senotsu while prize distribution will be led by ASA wrestling secretary Khrielakuolie Suohu. ASA games secretary Mhalelhou Mere will propose vote of thanks.


DAY-I RESULTS

Football team of Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) and Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) today registered win in their respective matches and will vie for coveted champion title on February 8 at the ongoing 47th meet of Angami Sports Association (ASA) here at Indira Gandhi Stadium.


In the first match, Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA) defeated Chakhroma Sports Association (CSA) 3-2.


Western Angami Sports Association (WASA) overpowered Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) by a winning margin of 4-2.


NASA will face CSA in the third place match at 9:00 AM on February 8.


Football final match between SASA and WASA will take place at 12:00 noon.


In volleyball (Women), SASA defeated NASA while WASA registered win over CSA.


NASA stood third place after defeating CSA.


SASA and WASA will vie for the final match at 9:00 AM.


In Volleyball (Men), WASA defeated CSA in the first match while SASA defeated NASA in the second match.


NASA will face CSA in the third place match at 9:00 AM while WASA will play with SASA in the final match.
