Revised traffic rule in Dimapur from June 30-July 30

Dimapur, June 27 (MExN): In the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Rothihu, Tetseo, IPS has issued new traffic regulation for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 (till Chümoukedima town) which will be enforced from June 30 till July 30. 


With this, the earlier order issued on May 17 will cease to be effective from June 28, the CP stated. All car passes issued by Dimapur Police ‘ON COVID 19 DUTY’ will be also invalid w.e.f. June 28. 

 

Odd Even rule to continue 

The Odd Even rule will continue to function. On every Monday, Wednesday and Friday only vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply. On every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will be allowed to ply. “This restriction will not be enforced on Sundays,” the CP stated. 

 

Exemption 

Those vehicles under essential services category, as notified earlier will be exempted.


Further, Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services or involved in COVID-19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. 


“Two wheelers will also be exempted from this traffic restriction,” the order added.  

 

Heavy vehicles 

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9:00am to 3:00pm. 


The CP warned that violation of the order will be liable to be penalized under Section 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988 and “appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.”
