The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Government of India has taken decision to revive Nagaland Pulp & Paper Co. Ltd, Tuli by enhancing the capacity from 100 MTPD to 200 MTPD (white writing paper) by infusing about Rs. 600 crore. The requirement of bamboo will be about 3 lakh tonnes annually. This was stated in the Annual Administrative Report (2008-2009) of the department of Industries & Commerce. The revival programme is going on in full swing by HPC and is expected to be commission by September 2009 (likely to delay), the report said. Once the mill is commissioned, the report said, “enormous avenues will be created for both direct and indirect employment among the locals; industrial work-culture will slowly change the attitude of locals in particular and the enhanced economic conditions will definitely change the living standard of the people in the state thereby the graph of the State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP) will sharply go an upward trend.”
