Dimapur: Impulse NGO Network, a twelve years old organization based in Shillong and working on the issue of combating human trafficking and sexual exploitation of Women and children, with the support from UNODC has under taken its work on combating human trafficking, violence and sexual exploitation against women and children in North East India.
The organisation is also representing Action Against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children (ATSEC) Zonal Convener and Campaign Against Child Trafficking (CACT) State Convener for Meghalaya throughout its four years of Anti Trafficking work it has been observed that a lot or organisation and stakeholders like Law Enforcement, Government Department, NGO’s in the North East are not fully aware in addressing the issues.
To take this issue forward Impulse NGO Network, is organizing a one day State Consultation on “Right based Anti – trafficking programme” for the state of Nagaland on the 23rd September 2005, at Tourist Lodge, in collaboration with Prodigal’s Home and Bethesda Youth Welfare Center
The objective of this consultation is to develop a strategy replicating the Meghalaya model thorough networking on a shared approach, connecting the entire North East; a major impact could be made in the field of combating human trafficking. The NGO have discovered that a lot of resources have been invested in this field but relatively small dents have been made in reducing human trafficking or a human right response to it.
Hence a need to work on this issue with a fresh approach was realized. In order to provide the framework for those working in this field. This will allow networking members on a collaborative programme built on a common approach using the right base programming.
The programme will be attended by Law Enforcement Officials at a senior level, along with Social Welfare Officials, NGO’s, Short Stay Home superintendent and media personnel etc. His Excellency the Governor of Nagaland will launch the programme as Chief Guest and DGP Nagaland will grace the occasion as Guest of Honor.
