PSUK organizes career guidance programme
Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The Phom Students’ Union Kohima (PSUK) has organized a career guidance programme in Kohima on September 10 with an objective to pave a way for the students and educate them on various career options which can be pursued in tune with their interest, specific abilities and the scope it provides.
Four resource persons were invited to the programme to impart their knowledge according to their expertise in their respective field of profession.
Henok B Buchem, Secretary cum Controller of Exam NSSB gave a brief highlight on the importance of choosing right career path. “Right career choices give you happiness, respect, satisfaction and livelihood,” he said. He centered his talk on the topic of preparing exams under NSSB and enlightened the students on the importance of remaining consistent and diligent in their approach towards competitive exams.
Another resource person, Dr Manyau Phom, Deputy Director, Health & Family Welfare department, enlightened the students on the importance of mental health, its diagnostics and cure.
Mental health as such has become very common in our society with the new wave of lifestyle changes and emergence of cutting edge technological advancement, he said.
He lamented on Nagas insular way of understanding mental health and stated that it should not be considered as taboo or in worst case scenario stigmatize people grappling with mental instability but rather help them through professional medical care.
K A Tenso Phom, Assistant professor, Sazolie College Jotsoma, department of History talked about higher education and it's professional avenues. She encouraged the students to consciously choose their career path with the guidance of experts and professionals. She outlined various professional courses such as polytechnic, paramedical, ITI, vocational course etc. Students should be educated and empowered to choose a sound career path for themselves.
Mangai Phom, Secretariat Assistant talked on various nitty gritty of preparing NPSC and various competitive examinations. He immaculately outlined the nature of the exam and stated “What not to study is more important than what to study.” He encouraged the students to set targets and remain consistent and meticulous in pursuit of their goals.
Ladong, Joint Secretary Hoichemla Kohima Unit also exhorted the gathering. The programme was chaired by PSUK cultural secretary Moile. PSUK Women Coordinator, Sonam Phom proposed vote of thanks, according to a release issued by PSUK Information and Media Secretary C Lenke.
