Phek, November 15 (MExN): The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Phek in collaboration with Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) held a consumer awareness programme with the theme ‘Rights and Responsibilities’ at Chozuba Town on November 14.
Japheth Woch, ADC Chozuba, who was the chief guest, emphasized that a consumer should know his or her rights and responsibilities, especially in dealing with the traders and service providers. “Your right should be expressed or used in the right way and should not be misused,” he told the gathering.
The resource person of the seminar was Advocate Shekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer for PDLSA, who spoke on the ‘Rights and Responsibilities’ of consumers. He shared in detail as to who a consumer is, what a consumer should do when he or she is cheated by the traders or services providers, according to a press release. He also enlightened on how a consumer can complain against such malpractices by the traders or service providers.
The seminar was attended by students, NGOs, GBs, business union, teachers and other invitees of Chozuba Town. Visedenuo Sothu chaired the function and Shiekhozo, Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection, Phek, highlighted the objective of the seminar. The programme ended with concluding remarks from Nikesono of LM&CP Phek.
