Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today expressed concern over the performance of government schools in the HSLC examination where their pass percentage was not even half that of private schools. Rio raised this matter while speaking at the inaugural function of the newly constructed building of the Government Middle School, Seikhazou, D. Khel, Kohima Village this morning. In the recently declared result of the HSLC examination in Nagaland, the pass percentage of private schools stands at 88.36% while the government schools could make a mark of only 37.25% of those passed.

Stating that government school teachers are more qualified and getting double the salary that private school teachers earn, he regretted that in performance, government schools are not yielding half the results that private schools are. Rio said that the wide difference between the performance of government and private schools calls for retrospection on the same.
