State Home Minister Imkong Imchen clarified that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had not made any proposal to the Government of India on the Indo-Naga political solution but only made a sacrificial offer.

The state legislative assembly had convened special session specifically on the issue of the Indo-Naga political issue and passed the historic resolution to make a sacrificial offer to pave way for any alternative arrangement so that it can facilitate between the two negotiating parties, Imchen said while reacting to some national media report which appeared in a section of media yesterday.

“The question of Centre rejecting Rio’s proposal doesn’t arise because there is no proposal from Rio”, Imchen said. He also expressed doubt on the authenticity whether the Union Home Minister Shushil Kumar Shinde had made any such a statement on the Naga political issue as reported.

If there is going to be any solution to the vexed Naga political issue which is permanent in nature is to be arrived at, an interim or transitional government is absolutely necessary so that party or government has to prepare necessary constitutional requirement, in order to take possession by the permanent institution. Therefore the concept or terminology of interim/transitional is not a part of the solution but only a necessary temporary arrangement as part of the solution, Imchen added.
