Kohima, November 29 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) led by Neiphiu Rio today stated that the ECI directive dated November 25 addressed to Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu “is a just and fair direction and at the same time it has literally made the November 22, 2017 General Convention of our rival group, a futile exercise.”
The direction of Election Commission of India (ECI) to the rival NPF group to file only the affidavits of the members of Central Executive Council (CEC) and the members of legislature wing (MP and MLA), it said, “is a clear vindication of the stand we had maintained from day one.”
A press statement from Press and information Cell of Rio-led NPF further stated, “The direction to our rival group to submit their reply latest by 15.12.2017 of our enclosures of September 20 general convention has rubbished the misinformation campaign of our splinter group.”
The “smear campaign” carried out by the rival group by labeling the Rio-led NPF’s General Convention as “illegal, unconstitutional etc,” according to the statement, “stands dismissed and we hope that our rival group will do the needful as per the direction of ECI.”
It expressed confidence that ECI will settle the dispute without delay.
