DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 13 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has stated that the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio was finding it “very hard to convince the people of Nagaland with any new initiative or commitments in this election”. “He is in a death end for new ideas to lead the Naga people and that is why he is racking up the old death issue of Bedrock of Naga Society”, stated a press note issued by the Media Cell, NPCC.
Interestingly, the NPCC advised the Chief Minister “to look back in his home constituency where he is having a hard time even in his own village instead of counting the number of other party winnable candidates in other districts”.
The NPCC also points out that the ruling NPF manifesto contains only the “failed commitments” which cannot convince “the enlightened electorates who are only looking forward to new initiatives and sincere commitments for all round progress and advancement that was envisaged by the Congress party for the people of Nagaland”.
It further stated that the NPF manifesto is “only an explanation of failures on various fronts in their previous commitments and that is why it is lengthy, whereas, the Congress party manifesto is precisely forward looking with new initiatives”. As such the NPCC termed as “ridiculous for the Chief Minister to compare and contrast the two different manifestoes”.
On the Bedrock of Naga Society, the NPCC claimed that Rio had resigned from the Congress party ministry under Dr. S. C. Jamir in 2002 not because of the publication of the booklet but “because of his raw and blind ambition for power”. “By that time, he was not aware of the contents in that booklet”, the NPCC stated.
The Opposition Congress also points out that the NPF is a “party of one man and all the big and small party men and women are all yes man”. As such the NPCC stated that the NPF led DAN Government is a ‘one man show Government’ and that NPF as a party will die with Rio.
On the Rajiv Gandhi Gramen Vidyaktikaran Yojana (RGGVY), which was launched in 2005 for 100% Rural Household Electrification, the NPCC informed that the Government of India under Power Department sanctioned a total of over Rs. 233 Crores till 2010 for the State of Nagaland.
“Within this sanctioned amount, the NPF led DAN Government could undertake electrification in only 84 villages and their tall claim of power connectivity in thousand villages is only a farce”, the NPCC stated. The Opposition Congress has asked the NPF party to provide more clarification for substantiation in the implementation of 100% rural household electrification instead of refuting the statement of Smti .Sonia Gandhi.
On the visit of party leaders of national parties like BJP and JD (U), the NPCC has expressed sadness that they were “blindly uttering the political vendetta against the ruling Congress party led UPA Government”. The NPCC also ridiculed them for “tacitly supporting and approving the most corrupt ever Government of Nagaland under NPF led DAN Government”.
The NPCC also reminded the BJP party especially its national leadership on how two BJP MLAs not only betrayed their supporters in the State “by becoming easy commodities allowing the selfish Chief Minister to buy them cheaply”. The NPCC stated that the “electorates are very much aware of such experiences of the past”.
