DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio while calling for unity and oneness in the Naga family, at the same time stated that the State Government is in support of the Frontier Nagaland demand.
According to a report from the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), he stated this while speaking as the chief guest of the Konyak Aoleang Monyu Mini Hornbill Festival, hosted by Konyak Union at Local Ground, Mon Town on April 6.
He was accompanied by Temjen Imna Along, Minister of Tourism and Higher Education; Hekani Jakhalu, Advisor, Industries & Commerce; Dr. Chumnen Murry, Advisor to Chief Minister and Vizhoto Hibo, SP (Security) to Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister challenged the gathering to work hard, ‘as our forefathers work hard to keep going.’ He reminded the gathering that Konyaks have uniqueness of kinship, discipline, and that Nagas are proud of it. He acknowledged the creative works of the Konyaks in wood carving, blacksmith, necklace, cane and bamboo craft work, making guns and gunpowder, weaving etc.
Rio also mentioned about the G20 business meeting in Kohima, and informed that 27 countries participated to discuss investment, difficulties and hardship in society and how to solve them and stand together. He said all this depends on cooperation.
He further noted that there are many challenges and difficulties like the Naga iIssue, Municipal and Town Council Act, while also touching on the delimitation and census exercises. He urged all to cooperate and maintain unity, peace and development for a Naga future bright.
Lastly, he wished for more blessings and a bumper harvest for the new season as the Konyak community celebrates the Aoleang festival.
The Aoleang festival is celebrated to welcome a new season and invoke divine blessings for both humans and crops; and for good harvest and cropping. The festival includes family feast, community feast, cultural dance, games and sports and other ritual ceremonies.
