Rio’s silence on CF violation draws flak from NSCN (K)

DIMAPUR, NOV 25 (MExN): In an attempt to put the DAN government headed by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on the mat, the NSCN (K) has questioned the role of both Rio and the Government of India with regard to what it termed as series of violations of the ceasefire ground rules by its rival faction and the complete silence of the Nagaland Chief Minister.

Pointing to Clause (G) of the ceasefire ground rules between the NSCN (IM) and the Government of India, the NSCN (K) in a press communiqué issued by MIP Deputy Secretary Kevi Kips took note of the recent indefinite blockades on National Highways 39 and 53 while alleging this to be sponsored by the NSCN (IM) and the economic blockade on the road between Dimapur and Athibung and Noklak area imposed by the NSCN (IM). Besides this, the NSCN (K) alleged that hundreds of National Workers and innocent civilians had fallen prey to acts committed by the NSCN (IM).

It also stated that the NSCN (IM) cadres were roaming freely with uniform and arms and questioned both Rio and the Government of India if these were not violations of ceasefire.

“But the recent elimination of a hardened criminal Hesso Mao former Nagaland DGP as a revenge for his unauthorized killing of an NSCN (K) Army Officer in cold blood with his service revolver is taken to be serious violations of ceasefire ground rules by the Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio”, it stated.

Further, the NSCN (K) pointed out that the Nagaland Police was giving ‘different unfounded versions’ about the killing of the NSCN (K) Army Office in 2000 in an attempt to save their face and cautioned that it would not go by the “Indian laws” which it said could “make the wrong right and vice-versa”.

“The police version of an armed encounter between the police and the Naga army is a blatant lie and as keepers of law and justice they should not mislead the general public”, it stated. Clarifying that the NSCN (K) High Command on hearing about some of its cadres decamping with money without due authorization in collaboration with some NAP Personnel, had ordered to return the money “without loss of a single rupee”.

The NSCN (K) maintained that this order of the high command was complied with and the seized cash returned through IGP Walling at PHQs.

Lamenting that, in spite of the cash money being returned, former DGP Mao shot the NSCN (K) Army Officer with his service revolver while keeping as souvenir, the AK-assault rifle which was in the possession of the slain cadre, Lt Michael Angami.
