Dimapur, September 19 (MExN): The Nagaland RMSA Teachers’ Association 2016 (NRMSATA-2016) has issued a rejoinder to the press statement released by the Government of Nagaland regarding the meeting held on September 18, stating that the government’s claim of proposing the formation of a committee is “factually incorrect and misleading.”
According to the Media Cell of NRMSATA-2016, “At no point in the meeting was such a proposal formally placed on the table.” The rejoinder stated that the meeting, held at 10 AM at the Home Commissioner’s Office, Civil Secretariat, Nagaland, did not feature any official proposal for a committee. “The officials merely asked for more time to deliberate among themselves and to come up with proposals for negotiations. The RMSA 2016 representatives were kept waiting outside,” it added.
The association further clarified that later in the evening, around 5 PM, a casual discussion took place outside the gate, by the roadside. “It was there that the Joint Mission Director, in an informal manner, mentioned the idea of forming a committee,” the statement said.
“To portray this offhand remark as an official outcome of the meeting is a clear misrepresentation,” the rejoinder asserted. “The truth is, the government did not make any formal proposal, nor did it demonstrate any concrete step toward resolving our long-standing grievances,” it added.
The NRMSATA-2016 reiterated its position on the issue, stating, “Moreover, the RMSA 2016 teachers do not agree to the setting up of any such committee. Our stand is clear — we seek justice through implementation of scale pay, not another layer of delay through committees.”
