
Dimapur, March (MExN): The road blockage imposed by Mdipuiram and Beilikui Ward in Peren Town from February 27 due to non-completion of work in the wards have been lifted after assurances from the concerned contractor. The representatives of the wards held a meeting with the district administration today at the Conference Hall of ADC Office, Peren where the issue was discussed. “After thorough deliberations the meeting decided to clear the road blockade basing on the assurance of concerned contractor,” informed a press note received here. The district administration was represented by S. Taniu, ADC Peren; ; Tsidi, EAC Peren; Er Toba Angami, EE Municipal Affairs Department; Er Chuba Longkumar SDO; and T. Mirhu, Contractor while wards were represented by respective Chairman and youth. During the meeting, while the ADC highlighted the issue of road blockage, Er Toba highlighted the practical difficulties faced by the department, it said. He told the meeting that work order amounting to 6 crores is a central project, with 90% contribution from the centre and 10% from the State. Since the State government has not contributed its share, the second installment has not been released, it added. He also reminded that the work order stands till September 2017, the release said. While highlighting the reason for the delay of blacktopping, the contractor assured the representatives that he will start the work, whether the amount is “sanctioned or not” and also assured to take up the work without delay within March 15, it added. The representatives of the colony also highlighted the problem faced by the residents, including health complications due to dusty road which resulted in the blockage.
