Lok Sabha Wangyuh Konyak has given suggestion for construction of Railway line from Dimapur to Mon via Niuland, Merapani, Longnak, Tuli and Tizit pointing out that this will help people of Nagaland in a great way as the aforementioned route is located on the foot hills where people can transport coal, horticulture and forest products. The proposals were made during a meeting recently of the Northeast Frontier Railways.
Wangyuh also proposed that the railway line project from Dimapur to Kohima be re-surveyed “as per present alignment up to Zubza as terminal point and Nagaland Capital will be left unconnected due to instability of the soil”. Further for construction of railway overbridge between Thahekhu village and Nagarjan village, the MP suggested that footpath should be constructed immediately citing reasons that Dimapur is a fast growing commercial city in the northeast next only to Guwahati. Pointing out that traffic jams have become a disturbing feature of Dimapur, the MP lamented that the Railways had blocked the road between Thahekhu village and Nagarjan village which has caused immense hardship to the people. “Therefore, this needs to be rectified urgently”, he stated.
The MP also sought explanation on the railway line from Diphu-Dhansire-Karong via Jalukie as per original estimate approved by the Ministry of Railway and sanction given during 1987-88. Wangyuh further demanded immediate resumption of Railway services from Amguri in Assam to Tuli in Nagaland and further extension from present location up to Tuli town via Tuli Paper Mill as stated by him earlier in Parliament.
He also called for construction of a second railway platform at Dimapur Railway Station and that the booking center should be made operational immediately.
Wangyuh also proposed that the railway station constructed at Naganimora by the Brithish in 1926 should be revived immediately from Simalguri in Assam. “Naganimora is one of the oldest administrative headquarters in Mon district with historical and commercial center, because Borjan Coal fields is there and at present also people are doing coal operation and transporting the coal by road”, Wangyuh informed while drawing the attention of railway authorities to improve services on respect of Nagaland and the Northeastern region.
