Amit Kumar Balan
Assistant Sub Inspector, CISF
Dimapur Airport (Nagaland)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make India economically prosperous and powerful at the international level. In his major vision, 'Make in India' and 'Start Up India' are a unique example.

The contribution of all the policy planners, politicians and industrialists of the country in contributing to the realization of this dream is as much as the contribution of the national guards deployed in the security of our nation. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) also plays an important role in this, as the responsibility of safeguarding the prosperity and prosperity of the nation rests on the shoulders of the CISF. The CISF is successfully carrying out those responsibilities.

This force is the world's largest organized force in the field of industrial security. The force with the original sentence 'Protection and Security' was established on 10 March 1969 with 3 thousand 129 soldiers. Today, its number has increased to more than 1 lakh 65 thousand. After the establishment of the force, its main responsibility was to all government institutions, buildings, Delhi Metro, airports, nuclear institutions and ports etc.

Taking all these responsibilities well, this force is now also deployed in the security of many big private institutions, which are major partners in the economic progress of the country. As far as the participation of women in the force is concerned, the force has more women than any other force. At present the total number of women workers in CISF is more than 7-8 thousand.

On the occasion of CISF's 50th Foundation Day was observed on 10 March 2019, ex-home minister Rajnath Singh, while expressing his appreciation for the role of CISF in the security and prosperity of the nation, said- "I am very happy that CISF has been Has been playing the duties well. The advancement of our nation is possible only when its industrial areas, airports, seaports, sensitive atomic institutions, etc. are protected. I am proud that CISF's role in securing this wealth of ours is commendable. "

The CISF is a unique force, which has assumed the responsibility of protecting various strategic and business institutions. In the end, the former home minister stressed the force to enhance its core capabilities to meet the challenges ahead.

"The CISF is always committed to its motto 'Protection and Security', keeping the firmness in security and the friendly and courteous behavior towards the public."

* CISF force personnel equipped with modern techniques: -

The CISF force personnel are equipped with modern techniques. The CISF is provided with high level training along with modern weapons, which enables the force to meet the current security challenges. Force is being made more efficient by 'man-power' and 'electronic equipment' to gain greater expertise and efficiency in the field of security. The commandos are deployed as QRT ('Quick Reaction Team') to deal with any type of threat without any delay. The CISF has its own dog-squad and BDDS teams, which are deployed in various units.

* A large number of additional CCTV cameras have been installed at various metro stations.
* A campaign called 'Metro Mitra' has been launched by DMRC with the help of CISF, the main objective of which is to ensure a safe and secure travel experience in the metro premises by making the eyes and ears of the passengers.
* CISF is deployed at 59 important airports in the country. In the field of aviation security, the force is using advanced technology and dog squad to deal with any terrorist attack. CISF is also responsible for the security of cargo complexes at many airports.

The CISF has recovered kilograms of gold in various cases at various airports and handed over to the Customs Department. Workshops were conducted at the airports to make the coordination between various agencies working at the airports successful and effective. * Fire Fighting Branch-

Presently CISF is providing fire protection along with protection of various undertakings and institutionsThe fire-fighting branch is an integral part of the CISF. The role of the fire wing is to provide fire protection to all units. The CISF's Fire Wing is the largest skilled trained force in the country providing fire protection to various undertakings. CISF's Fire Service Training Institute 'Nisa' is located in Hyderabad. During the last 5 years, the CISF has skillfully controlled the fire and protected the wealth of the country.

* Intrinsic safety

The CISF has played an important role in conducting fair elections by providing for 'internal security' duty in various state and parliamentary elections and state assembly elections.

* Deployment of CISF in Naxalite and Terror affected areas-

The CISF is successfully carrying out its responsibilities in Jammu and Kashmir, deployed in Naxal-affected areas and in the North-Eastern states.

* Private institutions: -

The force's scope expanded significantly after the November 2008 Mumbai terror attack. The CISF Act was again amended in the year 2009 to provide protection to private sectors. The responsibility of providing security to private institutions is a reflection of the efficiency and capabilities of the force. Today CISF has the following private institutions in its security shield: -

* There is no chance for missed-

 Our nation is constantly touching new heights. The Prime Minister is constantly promoting business. There are many private business institutions in our country which are equal partners in the progress of the nation. Safety of companies like Infosys, Reliance and Tata is as important as any government institution. For this, there is a high-level government system that decides which private business institution to protect CISF. It is true that these private institutions are contributing a lot in the economic progress of the country. Wherever the CISF provides security, a 'fixed' fee is charged by the government. I want to mention that the CISF accrues about 80 percent of its budget and rarely puts any burden on the government budget. As such, the CISF objective is not to earn but to provide security to the supporting institutions in the progress of the nation.

* Main challenges of CISF -

Along with the country's nuclear institutions, airports, ports, metros, public sector units, space stations, defense installations, oil refineries, power projects, etc., security of major private institutions is our priority and this is our challenge. There is no chance for lapse here.

* New initiative

In view of the present scenario of the country and foreign terrorist activities, the force is constantly making efforts to modernize technology and upgrade skills. The force headquarters has developed a new software for sending messages to all the force members in all the units of the country at onceThe EDP cell of the force headquarters developed the Android App (M-Power), the first Android app developed by any Central Armed Police Force. This is a precise attempt to present the CISF personnel assessment, which can be availed by any Android mobile. E-governance was launched on 16 April 2015 at the headquarters of the force to solve the online problem. The 'Leave Management System' was introduced by the force member to check his leave details online. Through this system, only one click will know about the holiday approved or rejected, and this holiday will also maintain transparency. The system has been developed by the EDP section of Force Headquarters, which is operated by CISF's website 'Impulse Corner' or 'Android App (M-Power)'.

* Challenges-

The number of passengers traveling daily in the Delhi Metro is around 30-35 lakhs. In such a large number, it is a challenging task for the jawans to check passengers and their belongings by X-ray machine and keep a close watch on suspicious persons and objects. Despite this, the soldiers are successfully performing this duty. There have also been many cases of suicide at Delhi Metro station, which is a big challenge before the force.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took part in the function organized on the 50th Foundation Day of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on 10 March and addressed the soldiers. Who said the following things in his speech about CISF, some of which are as follows -

"As an organization you have completed 50 years, this is an achievement in itself"

PM started his speech by congratulating Foundation Day. The PM said that "as an organization you have completed 50 years. It is an achievement in itself. All those who have contributed in advancing this organization for 50 years deserve all congratulations. I would like to congratulate them."

He further said that "The neighboring country is not able to fight the war so it infiltrates.” The PM, at the beginning of his speech, targeted Pakistan and said "This achievement is bigger because our neighbor is not able to fight the war. The war is not worth fighting, but it is deceit in the coming days." In such a situation, the security of the country and the protection of resources is a very difficult task, but I congratulate you for your great performance. I congratulate you for the great performance of the parade. He has won the Police Medal and the President's Medal, he is also eligible for congratulations. You have played a very important role in securing new and modern systems of new India. "

In the last 50 years, there has been a steady development in CISF, its role has also changed continuously. The CISF was established only for industrial establishments but now this force is protecting all historical establishments and other establishments.

* Terrorist threats fiercely combated
Whenever the country is in need of terrorist threats and other threats, the CISF has aggressively countered it. Since the attack on Parliament, the CISF is responsible for the security of the Parliament House itself. We are performing this responsibility well.

* Substantial security from metro to airport
In CISF Delhi Metro alone, CISF protects 30 lakh people every day, while the security of 7 lakh passengers at the airport is on us. The CISF salutes all the heroes who have sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.

* Responsibilities of citizens for the security of the country
1 .The responsibility of the security of the country is as much as that of the military, as is the responsibility of every citizen. It is our duty to protect the country. We should motivate the youth to join the army and paramilitary forces while performing this duty.
2. Do not give any confidential documents or information of the country to foreigners, police administration should give information about suspicious activities like espionage.
3. When our soldiers are fighting on the occasion, then they should provide food items, medicines and essential items on time and maintain the morale of the army.
4. On the occasion of war, do not let the spirits of the people get reduced in any way. Help the army and administration in full and follow their instructions.
5. Support the administration in civic security system such as blackout, first aid, fire fighting etc.
6 .Do not black-sell and collect unnecessary items, inform the police about the persons doing this kind of work.
8. We should be ready for the protection of the nation from our mind and wealth.
