The stage is all set for International Women’s Day at the Kohima Local Ground on March 8 from 10:00 am onwards.
The programme, according to the organizers, is being planned to coincide with International Women’s Day, to showcase the achievements and talent of women in the state, as well as to highlight the indispensability of women in the development process.
“Women are now accepted agents of development and their empowerment is one of the most vital ingredients in the progress of the society,” said an organizer.
Kaisa Rio, wife of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the function as the chief guest while Khesheli Chishi, president of Naga Mother’s Association will chair the function. NBCC Women Secretary will say a prayer.
The welcome address will be delivered by Sano Vamuzo, chairperson of Nagaland State Women’s Commission.
Special musical items will be performed by Ilitoli Z Ayemi while the highlights of the day will be briefed by Thangi Mannen, Commissioner & Secretary, Horticulture.
Conferring awards to eminent women, exhibition, ‘floral galleria’, an open solo competition, handloom and traditional songs and a cooking competition will mark the occasion.
The showcasing of creation of Naga women designers will be in the form of a fashion show and will include a fancy dress display by adolescent girls, informed Vilone Sakhrie, Superintendent TCPC.
It will also be having information booths on health and nutrition, environment, legal rights of women and programmes for women.
