Rongmei bodies hold consultation with NSCN (IM)

Peren, September 17 (MExN):  The Rongmei Council Nagaland (RCN), Rongmei Council Peren, Rongmei Community Dimapur, Rongmei Council Kohima, Rongmei Mothers’ Organisation Nagaland and Rongmei Pei and the NSCN (IM) leaders of the Asalu Zeliangrong region held a joint consultative meeting on September 16 at Jalukie Town in Peren.

In the meeting, , the mandate given to the signatories of the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 was ‘unanimously reaffirmed’, according to a press release from the Media cell of the Asalu Zeliangrong Region on Thursday.

Initiated by the CAO Asalu Zeliangrong Region, the meeting discussed “the present political situation of the Naga movement for self-determination and the roadmap for final settlement,” it stated.

Unlike the topography of most Naga tribes, the Zeliangrong region covers a vast geographical domain touching the three states of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland under present Indian map, it added.

It further said that “the diversity of our thoughts and approaches has been flagging us,” and added that “the common concentration of every Zeliangrong at this juncture” should be how to go forward.
