
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 7 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur kick started its 50th Golden Jubiliee service celebrations with a blood donation camp on February 6 in which a total of 50 units of blood were collected. In the evening the club members had a celebration of Charter Nite at Rotary Centre in which founder member US Agarwalla was the special guest.
President, Kitoshi Zhimomi in her welcome speech acknowledged the tireless efforts of all the past and present members since the inception of the club. She also remembered the chartered President, Secretary and chartered board members and expressed her gratefulness to them for bringing Rotary Club to Dimapur. She, then, outlined the social and philanthropic works of RC Dimapur and highlighted about the selfless service which the Rotary Club is rendering to the society.
Rakesh Kochar, Project Chairman of the blood donation camp thanked Dr T Temsu, Senior Specialist, Blood Bank & his team; service partner IndusInd Bank and other donors for their support.
RS Panesar gave a brief report about the journey of the 50 years of Rotary Club of Dimapur.
He recalled how the club was formed in February 1972 with the support of Lungalang, the then Commissioner of Nagaland.
Vijay Sharma, Assistant Governor (Zone IX) read out the congratulatory message of Rotary District Governor Subhasish Chattterjee and wished the club many more years of service to humanity.
Meanwhile, the multilingual singing talent of Nagaland, Nk Naga was inducted as an honorary member of the club. He enthralled the audience with his songs.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Lions International District Governor, Lalita Khadaria and Gopal Sharma, former President of Lions Club. Ashok Agarwal delivered the vote of thanks.
